A Long Time Coming!

It appears that this post has been a VERY long time coming. David and I are currently looking for a new house. We have just put in an offer on one and hope to hear back soon. Fingers are crossed and prayers are being said! Of course, I will have to keep my blog updated so this should be a good excuse to get into the habit. I hope!
Well, not only did we get the house (YAY) we are now living in it for almost 1 year, it will be one year on April 12, 2014.
2013 was not a good year for us with our cats. We lost three (yes three boo hoo), on April 10, 2013, we lost Riley, our Maine Coon, who was only 6 but riddling with cancer. Then in December, just one week apart from each other, we lost Koto, who was about 18-20 years old, and our Sassy Tabby, Maxie, who was about 13. Both Koto and Maxie had kidney disease and Maxie in particular went down hill so very, very quickly from the diagnosis to the day we put her down, about 7 days (yes, days!)
However, in our vet's office there was a male cat that looked almost just like our neighbor's cat, Rusty. And indeed, it turned out that his name is Rusty and he now resides with us as of December 23rd, 2013. He is our boy! He is about 4 years old and getting more and more daring with time.
Our new house is now our home, and we may put the old one on the market. When we first moved, we didn't want to think of getting rid of it. but now, well, home is here not there. As I always say, we shall see!
We have 7.2 acres of glorious land, our nearest neighbor is about 1/2 mile away, so no noise. And in the Spring and Summer, wonderful outdoor living. Fall and Winter, inside and cozy, but the Spring and Summer outdoor living more than make up for the fact that we don't go out much in the colder weather! Well, DH is 71 and I will be 55 in August, so age is a factor also, I guess! Though 55 doesn't feel that old to me.
It has been over 2 years since my last post! oh my, I hope I can keep up a bit better with it all this time around. We shall see!
I am getting so back into sewing. I have purchased a lot of patterns for myself and some fabric. As well as some kits to make children's and dolls' clothing and accessories. I figure if the project is smaller, I won't be so worried if I made a mistake and/or try out some new, or new to me, technique. We shall see. Right now, I am working on creating a Serger Caddy using my Sewing Machine and my Serger. Lot of fun, but because I didn't read all the way through the instructions, though I did watch the DVD!, I've already made a mistake. Glad this is a small enough project and nothing major though. We shall see how it comes out and maybe I will even post a photo.
I purchased the kit from Martha Pullen's store online. It is by Missy Billingsley and is cute and simple to sew with some newish techniques for me to try out. I selected the black and white gingham material (rather than the pink and white) and am very pleased with the quality of the fabric and laces, etc. You cannot beat MP for quality sewing products. And you get what you pay for, like so many things in life!
The weather, which has been very cold and snowy, has hopefully changed for the upbeat! It is sunny today, Sunday, April 6th, 2014, and not quite as windy/breezy as yesterday. Nice day for updating blogs and starting some work outside.
With that being said, I am heading out to do some gardening, not much. But hope to update again tomorrow. We shall see.....!
